I sat here thinking the other day about how many months left until our wedding...ten (that's the October calandar in my wedding planner). I began to complain (in my head, to myself of course) about how much time that was & how it would probably feel like forever. Then my thoughts somehow stumbled across the fact that we were going to be engaged 15 months from the time Anthony first asked (which had felt like a terribly long & unbearable time up until now). Everyone told me the time would fly by, but I was reluctant to believe them, dreading waiting so long because of our need for Anthony to graduate college first, which will be at the end of next summer. But while doing some mental math in order to have reason to whine more, I realized: if 5 months have already passed & there are 10 left, that basically means that we have gone through 1/3 of our engagement already and only have 2/3 left. That's a crazy thought in my mind. Soon I'll be saying only 1/2 or 1/3 or 1/4 of the time is left until we're down to a month, a week, a day, an hour & even a minute before we say "I Do." It's an exciting, scary, mind-boggling thought, how soon it really is that I will be Anthony's wife!
On a less deep note, I went to an antique store called Vintage Village yesterday. I originally set out searching for blue-tinted Mason/Ball/Kerr jars. I found a few of them, but they were kind of ridiculously expensive in my mind, so I decided not to buy any. I'm going to have to try to figure out something with our florist (whenever we decide who that is) about renting them or finding them discounted. Anyway, what I did find was nothing short of awesome to me. First, I hit up the scrabble tiles; I plan on making something cute for our future kitchen or bedroom or anywhere in our home with them...just not sure what that will be yet. Then, I found the sweetest little wire basket that is almost exactly our shade of blue. It's not in perfect condition (I'll have to repaint it), but I'm going to find a place somewhere in our wedding for it because it is so me! Then, I stumbled upon...........
REDNECK WINE GLASSES.
Yes, that is actually what they were labeled as in the store (they're really just Mason jars hot glued to some clear candlesticks). & you know what? I bought them! They were $8 apiece, but I did not care. I was super worried that Anthony would be like "Sarah, are you kidding me? Those are ridiculous & I can't believe you spent $16 on that." So when I was showing him my purchases, I said "now I know it's a little crazy, so bear with me..." When he saw them he said something to this effect: "Are you kidding? Those. Are. AWESOME. That is so ME! Bear with you?! HA!" He got even more excited when I told him what they were actually called & seemed very happy over the fact that I had purchased something 'redneck.' He even wants to use them as the glasses we drink out of during the little linked arms toast after we cut the cake. I'm glad that he feels like some of his personality is going to come through in this wedding too, not just mine!
I had seen them on Pinterest & Style Me Pretty (which I have wasted entirely too much time trolling through...maybe even needing rehab for! & have vowed to only get on the site once a week now), so I could not believe my eyes when they were right in front of me. My new goal for this wedding (besides all of the traditional ones) is to get my wedding on SMP. I was already going to put so much care and creativity into it anyway, so I want other brides to be able to enjoy it & be inspired by it! I posted a status about this on Facebook & our photographer "liked" it, so Melissa if you're reading this, I think we should go for it! I also have a ton of other little details I want to throw in, like a chandelier my dad gave me (antique, vintage & GORGEOUS from his house in Savannah) hanging in the barn at my grandparents' where we'll be taking pre-wedding pictures, the beautiful red chest that those glasses are sitting on somewhere in the wedding, & so much more! I am going to start collecting now because I would just die if SMP would feature our wedding!
On an even less important note, I took the picture above at church on Sunday. It's Jason Powell's shirt...I know how creepy that is! But it was red & blue & almost our colors but not quite so I just couldn't help but take a picture to keep for my "inspiration boards." If anyone who knows him is reading this, please don't tell him what a stalker I am! Haha :)
Be on the lookout for a post about dress shopping sometime in the near future. Next Saturday, we (mom, dad, Haley, Kera & I) are eating lunch near the mall & have an appointment at Charme in Buford at 1:30. Then if we don't just totally find the perfect one there, we're gonna head on over to Formally Yours in Lilburn to try our luck there!
